The Empty Pocket: In Progress Showing, Chicago

Performed as part of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Low-Residency MFA Exhibition, The Empty Pocket is a solo non-narrative dance/theater piece told through text, music, video imagery, and movement that I created and will perform. The production is a surreal fairytale of a girl who begins as silent. As the world cracks apart she is forced to stand up and shout out in a churning landscape of suspended liminality. It is a tale of misunderstanding, failing to adapt, crossing a line, a whistleblower being silenced and of those seeking hope. The permeable and fluctuating distance between reality/surreality and sanity/madness, is explored through design and gesture. The piece is a collaboration with media artist Fernanda D’Agostino.
